Job position: Accounting Support
Location: Innisfil, ON
Pay rate: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour
We have an immediate opening for an Accounting Support Associate with our client in Innisfil, Ontario. Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be able to dive in right away! This is an ongoing, temporary role, with the possibility of becoming a full-time, permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record daily financial transactions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Verify that company procedures are strictly followed when recording financial transactions.
- Maintain financial records and establish, monitor, and balance various accounts using both manual and computerized systems.
- Post journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare trial balances for all legal entities.
- Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial reports as required.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports while maintaining accurate financial and statistical records.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and support smooth day-to-day accounting operations.
- Monitor account status and assist the Controller in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Reconcile bank statements, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly with the bank.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, forecasting, and government remittances.
- Support annual and government audit processes by providing necessary documentation and data.
- Maintain compliance with regulations by adhering to established procedures, policies, and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient processing.
- Promote a safe and organized workplace by identifying and reporting equipment issues and maintaining clean shared workspaces.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by overcoming operational challenges, meeting department targets, and celebrating successes.
- Promote company core values by adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting practices, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics is required.
- Familiarity with legacy versions of Sage accounting software is highly preferred, as it is currently used within the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and organizational ability.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
