Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking General Labourer to support food and beverage production by performing packaging, material handling, clean-up, and other production-related duties. The role requires following food safety, quality, and health & safety procedures while working efficiently on the production line.
Location: Brantford
Shift: Days: 7am – 3pm (Monday to Friday) Pay: 20/hr
Afternoon: (3pm to 11pm) (Monday to Friday) Pay: 20.75/hr
Night: 11pm to 7am (Sunday- Friday) Pay: 21.25/hr
Key Responsibilities
Production Duties
- Monitor dough and finished products for quality issues.
- Report concerns to the Line Leader and assist with resolving production issues.
- Assist with loading yeast belts, palm oil, and other raw materials.
- Monitor oven temperatures and production line performance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Packaging Duties
- Operate basic, single-function packaging equipment.
- Pack food products into bags, boxes, and other containers.
- Gently load bags into boxes and stage empty boxes as needed.
- Inspect products and packaging for quality issues.
- Verify that bag and box date/lot codes are accurate and legible.
- Remove filled containers from conveyors and pack products manually when required.
Palletizing and Material Handling Duties
- Build and inspect pallets, ensuring boxes are properly aligned.
- Operate pallet-wrapping equipment.
- Label finished pallets with the correct pallet number.
- Stage completed pallets for storage or shipment.
- Safely operate a pump cart or other powered equipment.
- Transport raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Perform tape roll changes as needed.
- Enter and monitor information in the Packaging Module accurately
Cleaning and Safety
- Sweep and maintain the cooked inspection area regularly.
- Follow all food safety, quality, and workplace safety procedures.
- Use equipment and material-handling tools safely.
- Report equipment, product, or safety concerns promptly
General Labour
- Follow Health & Safety, BRC, GMP, HACCP, WHMIS, and food safety standards.
- Follow direction from the Production Supervisor and HACCP Team Leader.
- Assist with production line start-up, shutdown, and break relief.
- Inspect products and packaging to ensure quality and food safety standards are met.
- Complete required production and quality records.
- Clear machine blockages and reset equipment as instructed.
- Clean and sanitize machines, equipment, and work areas.
- Identify and report production or quality issues to the Line Leader.
- Attend required food safety and safety training.
- Perform other production and general labour duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
- Work around moving machinery and in noisy production environments.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, wet/humid conditions, dust, and manufacturing chemicals.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on elevated platforms.
- Regularly lift/move up to 15 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Must follow all required workplace health and safety procedures.
