Job position: Lead Hand – Shipping & /Receiving
Location: Brantford, ON
Pay rate: $25.00 to $26.50 per hour; regular increases
Hours: Days shift – 6:4asm to 3:00pm; flexibility required
Avery HR is looking for an experienced Lead Hand – Shipping & /Receiving to oversee daily warehouse operations and provide leadership to the warehouse team. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling activities within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise warehouse staff and coordinate daily activities.
- Ensure warehouse operations meet company quality, safety, and operational standards. (BRC, HACCP, Quality, GMP)
- Plan and organize warehouse activities to support production requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure ERP information is up to date.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments to meet daily targets.
- Oversee shipping and receiving activities, including customer orders, vendor shipments, and warehouse transfers.
- Work with carriers and monitor freight costs to identify opportunities for savings.
- Verify incoming and outgoing materials for accuracy.
- Receive and put away materials and reconcile shipments with purchase orders.
- Complete required shipping, receiving, customs, and inventory documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse.
- Promote safe work practices and address unsafe conditions when identified.
- Assist with accident and incident reporting and investigations.
- Manage attendance and ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate training and continue to develop their skills.
- Work with management and HR to address employee-related issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to warehouse processes and efficiency.
- Support special projects and other duties as required.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of warehouse supervisory experience.
- Experienced and licensed for electric forklifts – Narrow Aisle Reach, Counterbalance and Walkie Power Pallet
- Experience in logistics and inventory management.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
- Ability to train, coach, and motivate employees.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime or additional shifts as required.
Education
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, Production, Manufacturing Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent experience will be considered.
